Reflective Practice Facilitator Training Project
Reflective Practice Training Project
About the Project
This two-year project will support the training and development of potential reflective practice facilitators using guiding principles suggested by the California Training Guidelines and Personnel Competencies for Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health (Revised). http://www.ecmhtraining-ca.org/index.html  Both full-scholarship and fee-for-service trainee slots are open to individuals throughout the Central Valley region.  This project is sponsored First 5 Fresno County and the Central Valley Regional Center and is intended to build Infant-Family Early Childhood Mental Health Reflective Practice Facilitation capactiy in our region.

We invite persons and agencies (working with infants, young children, and their families) from diverse fields including audiology, early care and education, early intervention, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language pathology, social work, special education, pediatrics, and the mental health disciplines to join us in this project.  According to the California IFECMH Training Guidelines Workgroup,
"Every individual who touches a baby should be trained to understand the basic concepts of infant-family mental health and early development.  Everyone who interacts with preschoolers and their families should be trained to understand the basic concepts of development and mental health of infants and young children, as well as the practitioner’s role in supporting parents in their responsibilities to protect, nurture, and guide their children."

In support of this specialized training and practice comes Reflective Practice Facilitation which is viewed
"....as being a means of responding to the professional needs of the service provider and to practice issues which derive from the interactions between the provider, family members, and all other persons involved in the intervention process directly or indirectly.  It is a practice which holds the possibility of supporting the needs of both the practitioner and the child-family."
